Moving to north-east facing house

|

We are moving house next week and have the following days available to move: Wednesday 19 November Thursday 20 November Friday 21 November Our family members are Rooster, Dog, Monkey, Rat, Rabbit and Horse (unborn). The house we are moving to is north-east facing. I have looked at the calendar and think that Thursday 20 November is the only good day for us to move, is this correct? Also, are 'moving' and 'entering the house' different occasions? If so, which day is good for entering the house? Thanks in advance.

Your intuition is correct. Thursday, 20 November 2025 is the best day for your move from the options you've provided. It is suitable for both the physical act of moving and the ceremonial "entering the house." Yes, "moving" (?? Banjia) and "entering the house" (?? Rùzhái) can be considered different, but for a modern move, they are typically combined into a single, well-chosen day. Detailed Analysis 1. The House's Facing: North-East In Feng Shui, the North-East direction (Gen Gua ??) is associated with: Education, Knowledge, and Wisdom Stability and Mountain Energy The Youngest Son in the family A North-East facing house benefits from energies that support study, personal growth, and building a solid foundation for the future. This is an excellent orientation for a family, especially with plans for a new child. 2. Your Family's Chinese Zodiac Signs The zodiac signs present are: Rooster, Dog, Monkey, Rat, Rabbit, and the unborn Horse. The most important principle for selecting a day is to avoid clashing with the zodiac signs of the family members, especially the head(s) of the household. I have analyzed the almanac (Tung Shing) for the dates you provided: Wednesday, 19 November 2025 (Yi Mao Day) This day clashes directly with the Rooster (???? Mao You Xiang Chong). The Rooster is one of the most important signs to protect during a major event like a move. Using this day could lead to instability, arguments, and misfortune for the Rooster family member. It is not recommended. Thursday, 20 November 2025 (Bing Chen Day) This is a very good day. The "Chen" day has a harmonious relationship with the Rooster (Chen-You?) and the Monkey (Chen-Shen?). It does not clash with the Dog, Rat, Rabbit, or the unborn Horse. This creates a day of general harmony and support for the core family members, making it an excellent choice. Friday, 21 November 2025 (Ding Si Day) This day clashes with the Pig (???? Sì Hài Xiang Chong). While no one in your family is a Pig, the "clash" energy can still create a slightly chaotic or unstable atmosphere. Since the 20th is available and superior, it is better to avoid this day. 3. Moving (??) vs. Entering the House (??) This is a key distinction in tradition: Moving (?? Banjia): Refers to the physical process of transporting your belongings from the old house to the new one. This can sometimes be done on a less-than-perfect day if necessary. Entering the House (?? Rùzhái): Refers to the ceremonial first entry into the new home to live there. This is the critical event where you "awaken" the house's energy. It involves bringing in the family, along with specific symbolic items (like a stove, rice, and salt), and performing a simple ceremony to invite good fortune. Modern Practice: For most families today, the moving trucks arrive, and then the family officially enters and stays. Therefore, it is standard and perfectly acceptable to perform the "Entering the House" ceremony on the same day you physically move all your belongings, provided it is an auspicious day. Final Recommendation & Steps for an Auspicious Move Choose Thursday, 20 November 2025 for both moving your belongings and officially entering the house. Before Entering (if possible): Perform a thorough cleaning of the new house. Open all windows and doors for a while before you enter to let fresh, new Qi circulate. The "Entering the House" Ceremony (on the 20th): Do Not Enter Empty-Handed: The first people to enter the house should carry specific, symbolic items. The most important is a new rice cooker or pan (representing wealth and nourishment). Other good items include: A bag of rice (abundance) A jar of salt/soy sauce (flavor and preservation of life) Your wealth vase or a red envelope with money A new broom (to sweep in good luck, not out) Turn on All the Lights: Once inside, turn on every light in the house and leave them on for at least 24 hours (or at least 3 days if possible) to energize the space and ward off any negative energy. Boil Water: Turn on the stove and boil a pot of water. You can add tangerine peels or pomelo leaves for purification. The moving water and steam symbolize prosperity and the flow of Qi. You can use this water to make tea for the family. Make a Lot of "Noise": Play music, ring a bell, or simply have the family be lively and happy. This "yang" energy fills the house with vibrant, positive Qi. For the Unborn Horse Child: The mother should avoid heavy lifting and excessive fatigue on the moving day. Her primary role is to enter the house peacefully and comfortably, carrying the positive energy for the baby. Congratulations on your new home!
