Auspicious date to start painting & renovating

If the zodiac animal & direction clash on that day, is painting & renovation work to be avoided. If cannot change the date with the contractor, is there any preventive measures? I intend to painting 2 bedrooms facing East & the contractor can start work only on 21/1/16 or 22/01/16. One of the occupant of the room is a Dragon zodiac & the other is a Rooster zodiac. The owner of the home is a Monkey zodiac. Appreciate some advice on when is a good day to start painting work.
