Pixiu or Piao

I bought a color changing piao with red string bracelet, my friend said that it is a fake and a piao should be in gold material to be effective. My question, what material should be a pixiu accessory, is it only should be gold? Is my Color changing piao is not capable of giving me good luck?

Not only gold material could be effective. Other material like obsidian, silver also work. Color changing piao also works.
