Chinese and American Zodiac Counterparts

I would like to know can Chinese signs be accurately compared to American zodiac signs. And can is there too much of a dynamic to trait features of both my American sign (Scorpio) and Chinese sign (Tiger)?

Thanks Danny for the reply... albeit I'd been previously misinformed that the Tiger's equivalent is Aquarius which still nonetheless falls under the airsign element either way. Ok 2 more questions. How do you come to the conlusion? What about rooster??

Capricorn is equivalent to Rooster in Chinese Zodiac.
