The conception date is the first day of last menstrual period in Chinese Gender Chart. So, if you want to follow the Chinese Gender Calendar, you need to make sure your menstrual period first date occurs during the suggested time and then try after that on your ovulation date for baby boy.

According to the chart, in 2017 you will get a baby boy if you are conceived in the following periods:
Apr 26 - May 25 (4th lunar month)
Jun 24 - Jul 22 (6th lunar month)
Jul 23 - Aug 06 (Leap 6th lunar month. First half of lunar leap 6th month will be counted as the 6th lunar month.)
Aug 07 - Aug 21 (Leap 6th lunar month. Second half of lunar leap 6th month will be counted as the 7th lunar month.)
Aug 22 - Sep 19 (7th lunar month)
Oct 20 - Nov 17 (9th lunar month)
Dec 18 - Dec 31 (11th lunar month)

You can try on your ovulation date after this period. Just monitor your ovulation date and try.
