Weird compatibilites

I know I've replied to people who also said a word on this, but... I dunno, I'm still kinda not too keen about this.
Why do I find myself getting along with people who have opposing zodiac signs with me? Like, my sister's a tiger, and I'm a monkey. Yet, we get along. Heck, my mother's a freaking horse for frick sake!! And yet she constantly yells at her and argues with her.
On top of that, my cousin is a Pig, and I'm a monkey. Yet again, we get along pretty well.
Again, I know I've said a lot on this topic, but... I dunno, still not very keen on this whole weirdly smooth relationships with people with opposing zodiac signs.
